Nicola Alessandrini – Della mia carne @ Portanova12

Earlier this year, Italian artist Nicola Alessandrini had his solo show “Della mia carne” hosted by Portanova12 Gallery in Bologna, curator Antonio Storelli. The focus of the exhibition is the flesh, represented through grotesque imagery capturing the bizarre metamorphosis from human to animal features and organs.

The use of graphite on paper amplifies the effect of this terrific transformation and somehow reduces man to its body, to fragments of flesh, as physical anomalies that also impact the psyche. It is a troubling vision of a world lacking any trace of beauty, merciless, as you can see it in the eyes of the child characters or the empty gaze of those who have already faced the hurtful transition.
