The works of Sorin Nistor

In his works, Sorin Nistor reveals a world in decay, questioning existence as we know it, and introducing a reality that is engaged in a permanent process of revolt.

Ambiguity and mystery are the two main aspects that interest him when approaching a theme. His clear and dense style, sometimes embedding futile ornaments, adds a surreal touch to his final pieces, often inspired by social historical realities.

Through hyperbolic details, Sorin Nistor intends to suggest the mutilation of buildings through bureaucratic mechanisms. The detail always seems to take over and remains as a fragment of an essential structure. Apparently, all these isolated fragments do not link to each other through real connections, but rather through a random juxtaposition. Besides the impressive architectural structures and elements that characterize his works, a strong visual impact results from the hybrid creatures that populate this decomposing universe reigned by flies and insects, as well as the use of a limited range of colors.

Influenced by architecture, the pencil illustrations, created in Brutalist style, also derive from Science Fiction and Fantasy, belonging to a different horizon, experienced through a temporal shift towards a utopian ideology, where the once ordinary and familiar laws no longer apply.
