Liviu Acasandrei – Deformation of the human body

The project “Deformation of the human body” by Liviu Acasandrei is far from the usual representations of the grotesque. Interested in the distortion of human forms from birth to intended physical deformations, the young artist creates and approaches the image of the monster with humor through his detailed drawings focusing on the process of transformation and the destruction of what we perceive as authentic beauty.

This impossible anatomy that is both fascinating and horrific in the viewer’s mind and perception is presented as a short-circuit in the natural order of things, a disruptive and bizarre interference in our normal and unattained reality, with a psychological impact on those who interact with the bearer of the marks, leading to ambivalent and extreme reactions. The gestures and details outlined by the artist highlight the evil and dark side existing in the human being, but not only in the malformation itself, but also in the other, in the reaction it generates, of opprobrium and rejection.

Liviu is currently a student at the University of Art and Design Cluj-Napoca, Department of Graphics in 2nd year of Master.
