Pastel and Elian – Fallas @ Montana Gallery Barcelona
According to the artists, the title of the exhibition, “Fallas” (Failure), refers to a default, but not in plural; its consequences and alterations, a known ending, an organic short circuit. A mirror of today’s society, of our mindless path to destruction, narrow vision and poor perception of what surrounds us, the works reveal an induced error, the premeditated fail, highlighting disruption and discontinuity, but at the same time harmony and completeness in the way the styles and symbols of both artists intersect.
While Pastel uses flora and native weapons to symbolize the tragic and ephemeral modern social structures, Elian studies the organic exercise of a hand made stroke, the gesture flow, interested in what happens in case of a break in the path, questioning our ability to adjust to the gap.
