Gabriel Stoian – Glitter, queens and other future beings

The solo show ‘Glitter, queens and other future beings’ by Gabriel Stoian (interviewed), on view through November 26th, 2015 at ATELIERFRANKFURT, Studio 5.15 Schwedlerstraße 1, 60314 Frankfurt am Main, predicts a future of apparent innocence, harmless at the surface yet with a poisonous core and revealing an unsettling metamorphosis.

According to the artist: “In the new economy, the economy of desire, human figure can be easily seen as an extension of the global communication technologies that oscillates between excitation and frustration – techno bodies – individuals that only praise the effervescent effect of their orgasmic potential.”

The new obsessions become limitations, experiences and relationships transform into artificial rituals, moving towards a different state of normality. Lost in the search for pleasure, connected solely with needs that impose immediate satisfaction, the characters depicted in the drawings lose their identity, their ability of emotion and empathy, replaced with inner emptiness, and unconsciously long for what they once had and could feel in the attempt to substitute this absence.
