Lucian Szekely-Răfan explores the aesthetics of ugliness

Romanian artist Lucian Szekely-Răfan is working on his upcoming exhibition, “Generation Androgynous”, on April 23rd, 7 p.m., at REACTOR, in Cluj.

About his artworks, he states: “I could say that my work aims at reconsidering the portrait, corroborating the Renaissance Classicism, the Boschian bizarreness and the hermeticism of Surrealism in a formula that borders the aesthetics of ugliness. Observing the absurd inside and beyond the ordinary may define the general theme of my work”.
