Handmade collages by Lola Dupré

Ireland-based collage artist and illustrator Lola Dupré creates handmade collages with paper, scissors and glue on wood panels, resulting from a meticulous process fueled by her fascination for the grotesque and what some might consider the ugly or bizarre. In time, she has reinterpreted or distorted portraits of iconic figures in art and pop culture, but also of politicians, as in the case of the portrait series focused on David Cameron, showing her interest and concerns with themes that the artist or the people consider important in today’s society. We also notice her excellent ability of capturing the essence of what she represents and that she adds a humorous tone to many of her works, highlighting certain elements or enriching the value of the collage.

In her activity, Lola Dupré has collaborated with many artists and photographers, especially for editorial projects. Her works are defined by a surprising variety, from exploding eyes and fashion-related imagery to more serious issues that link to political decisions, human emotions, and so on, constantly trying to establish a meaningful dialogue with her audience.
