Constantinos Chaidalis – Hunting Season

“Hunting Season” is an ongoing collage and illustration project focusing on personal events by graphic & motion designer Constantinos Chaidalis, known as Brittle. A hunting of innocence through the image of children disguised as animals, carrying their homes to protect them from harm, often failing to avoid the danger of growing up, of losing their inner worlds.

Somehow reminding us of toys, small arrows are wounding the fragile universe of childhood, shattering its beauty until it slowly vanishes leaving only the seemingly harmless weapons as a memory of our unwitting self. The arrows also highlight the existence of an external force, a cause for the individual struggle, perhaps challenges of life which are perceived as overwhelming by the child who searches for shelter, for safety.

The choice for black and white and the lack of context, with only age as a symbol of time and of our initial stage of life, in an infinity of the light color used in the background of each work, amplifies the impact of the series and the dramatic outcome – losing the child inside us, the essence of who we are, in order to reshape ourselves according to something outside us, which we usually do not to sense before the transition emerges.
