Collage art by Eugenia Loli
A filmmaker with a background in technology and, since 2012, a modern vintage collage artist, California-based Eugenia Loli believes in art with meaning, often conveying sociopolitical messages in her work, personal reflections and visual narratives that introduce us to her ongoing surreal movie.
“It’s important for me to ‘say’ something with my artwork, so for the vast majority of my work there’s a meaning behind them. I usually do this via presenting a ‘narrative’ scene in my collages, like there’s something bigger going on than what’s merely depicted. Sometimes the scene is witty or sarcastic, some times it’s horrific with a sense of danger or urgency, some times it’s chill. I leave it to the viewer’s imagination to fill-in the blanks of the story plot.”
An interesting fact you should know about Eugenia Loli regards her efforts to ensure that her digital collages look as if done on paper. We find the result very interesting not only due to her surprising level of skill, but also concerning the themes she approaches.
