The works of Bruno Pontiroli

Paris-based artist Bruno Pontiroli creates works which aim at turning the narrow vision we have of the world upside down: “I question the identity of things and try to reinvent them using representations or crafted settings based on a different logic.” He confronts the viewer with absurd, paradoxical and sometimes dark situations and characters, but often approached with humor.

In a constructed reality of endless possibilities, existing simultaneously with our own, tangible only in our dreams and imagination, we discover disturbing scenarios – a dissected snowman with human organs morbidly laying on the white snow, clouds crushing people, a pregnant woman with a cubic-shaped abdomen, men willingly or unintentionally slicing themselves. Nothing makes sense at a first glance, yet at a closer look we find new meanings and stories of inner struggle.
