Alessandro Sicioldr: The mind’s inner world
The works of Italian painter and illustrator Alessandro Sicioldr are a conscious representation of the unconscious. Taking inspiration from art history, psychology, mythology, philosophy, literature and science, he reveals an extraordinary universe, the mind’s inner world, “deliriums full of oddities, fears, wonders and amazement”, as the artist describes his psychedelic and symbolic illustrations.
When painting, he aims to reach the magnificence of the old masters: “From the use of wood as support, prepared with Cennino Cennini’s technique, to the secrets of glazings and the preparation of medium I try to merge past techniques with contemporary themes”.
With their profound gaze and meaningful silence, the creatures depicted by Sicioldr have a mesmerizing effect on the viewer, as well as their odd juxtapositions and interconnection with other characters or the surreal environment they belong to.
