Pisica Pătrată – Work in progress @ H’art Appendix

From June 19th to September 9th, 2015, H’art Gallery Appendix hosted “Work in progress”, an open show by Alexandru Ciubotariu, known as Pisica Pătrată (interviewed), where regular passers-by could see the artist working in the gallery window and participate in the show by drawing with the artist or playing ping pong together.

The exhibition, which we got the chance to revisit during the closing event, at the end of this interactive experiment with the public, included works on canvas and sketches by the artist, as well as photos taken during the show and the drawings of the visitors.

In this collection of works, the square cats are now reaching unexpected metamorphosis stages, pasted to each other, in a forced embrace, unnatural and imposed symbiosis that considering the gaze and gestures of the characters is the cause of their state of fear, insanity and silent consternation, which they cannot escape nor survive without.
