Suzana Dan – Playground @ Aiurart
Suzana Dan’s ‘Playground’ solo show, hosted by Aiurart Contemporary Art Space, curator Erwin Kessler, is open until the 24th of January 2015 (21 Lirei St, Bucharest, Mon-Sat, 3-7 pm).
We feel that the main focus of the exhibition is the contrast between appearance, which may seem desirable and amusing at first sight, and a harsh reality, one that exists beyond stereotypes and unfolds with each detail, irony and self-irony, revealing “bloody-happy, erotically-abrasive, para-feminist, painfully relaxed tales”. “Suzana Dan drives painting up the wall, getting all sorts of fluids flowing from it, letting them out in the open as if to horripilate and instruct the beholder concurrently.” (according to the gallery, translation by Bogdan Lepădatu)
In the end, suffering and love are part of the same big picture, where innocence and sweetness become the opposite, a threat, a forbidden game.
