Plastilina Bistro | A must visit in Bucharest
As you might know by now, Imbold Gallery and Acurela Bistro are one of our favorite places to visit in Bucharest, and when interviewing Alexu Toader a few months ago about the gallery, he told us that a surprise was on its way.
So, in May, 2014, part of Romanian Design Week, Plastilina was launched as a fundraising platform for the Imbold Cultural Association. Here, at Olari 8 Street, in Bucharest, there will be a lot of great happenings this summer – visual art exhibitions, performance, theater plays, jazz concerts and more. If you attended the opening, then you surely saw the impressive metal sculptures of Misha Diaconu, who we recently interviewed.
But fascinating is the house itself and the interesting story hidden between the walls of this over one century old building (since 1893). It is said, for example, that Ceaușescu saved it from being demolished, and we know for sure that here, one of the scenes from the Romanian movie Operațiunea Monstru was filmed.
The place has a fresh look now, since Plastilina was launched. If most cultural events will be held inside the house, what used to be the carriage garage and barn are now turned into a bistro with a special menu based on Romanian treats, while the garden is the perfect place to spend your summer evening.
We don’t want to spoil your first impressions, as we hope to see you there soon.
