Pablo S. Herrero – Monomanía (Urdimbre)

The solo show ‘Monomanía (Urdimbre)’ by Pablo S. Herrero, running through April 4th, 2015, at Swinton & Grant Gallery in Madrid (Miguel Servet 21), presents the artist’s vision of a reality centered around the tree as both force of nature and symbol of fragility. This simple element, yet complex in meaning, is present not only in the murals that Pablo S. Herrero paints in abandoned and marginal spaces in the city or in rural areas, but also in his works created with ink, supported sometimes with photographic transfer, “fumage” or earth colors, part of his current exhibition.

The artist seems to highlight a moment which may be interpreted as metamorphosis and rebirth, revealing the power to grow, to transform and regenerate in a continuous cycle of life and death. Although man is absent from his works, Pablo reflects the human silhouette in the trees, perhaps as a reminder of the connection we have with our environment, while at the same time emphasizes that nature can exist freely, without human intervention and control.
