The drawings of Juan Osorno
A special connection between man, nature and the cosmos is highlighted in the drawings of Colombia-based visual artist Juan Osorno. Human thoughts are perfectly aligned with constellations and transfers of knowledge and energy unfold using the hands as conductor. The heart and mind reflect the mountains and forests, a revived memory of origins and return to the silence and calm of our home.
Most of the works resemble anatomical drawings, are depicted as studies of malformations, of transformed animal or human features, and experiments that lead to unexpected revelations of rather spiritual significance. Juan Osorno is both the observer and the experimenter, drawing the line to unite or separate elements in order to make the viewer aware of the possible correlations. The outcome erases any boundaries between the inner universe and the external world, the one which can be seen and documented, the latter being the extension of the beauty, force, emotion and infinite existing within.
