Itam Ortega – “PSI” Liberation I series
In his collage/ photomontage series “PSI” Liberation I, Itam Ortega pictures the suffocation of a world in disorder, completely covered by the materiality of products as symbols of a consumerism determined behavior and perception.
Brutally erasing and denying its own evolution and history, this superficial and staged reality which mirrors our own is defined by appearances, emptiness and instability. When suffering the pressure and limits of such a hollow environment, art itself may become a waste of emotion, a product rather than an experience. There is no hope for continuity in the mindset of here and now, when the ephemeral is organizing principle of a society with no values, but only needs.
