HÂRŞ – by Ana Kun & Horațiu-Christian
Hosted at Atelier 030202 until April 8, 2014, Hârş exhibition by artists Ana Kun and Horaţiu-Christian is a collective performance inspired by the idea of Scrape and Win.
The project involves three phases: first, the two artists treat the paintings individually, each developing his own value/ non-value iconography. In the second phase, the canvas are fully covered with a layer of paint that can be scraped, thus obstructing the image. Finally, the artists intervene by scraping the surface, showing parts of the original image, and creating a parasitic overlay, through which they become co-authors.
The viewers are encouraged to intervene using one penny coins, destroying the image to earn another.
