The virtual realities of George Crîngașu
Currently living and working in Cluj, George Crîngașu experiments on the virtual realm of reality, exploring infinite dimensions of what was and could be, distorting and rearranging elements, that, in the end, are no longer familiar to our ways of seeing.
“The notion of building upon ruins is nothing new. It brought civilisation to the point we are witnessing today. In this sense, virtual reality tends to preserve our surroundings in a present state, it basically catches a freeze frame of the artifacts humanity has produced, with their inherited afflictions. Bringing upfront this filter provided by means of digital manipulation, I came to a conclusion of reality as a homestead that has yet to be breached by the virtual. They work in a codependency similar to the evolution of natural organisms. For the most part, I feel that my approach links to a sort of blueprinting for entities that could pass through, into a tangible state. I have yet to pinpoint the equivalent of natural selection in this process”.
