Art Yourself Gallery – 2015 projects

Art Yourself Gallery recently announced its 2015 projects. We visited the first exhibition of the No.88 project, running through March 21st, and also got the chance to see the first work part of this year’s ongoing sculpture series ‘The Things’ by Cătălin Oancea. Since February, the gallery launched a cinema program hosting weekly film screenings based on the exhibition theme of that particular month. Every Friday, two auteur films will be screened, a mixture of classic and cult fiction or documentary feature films as well as shorts. In March, the theme is reflexivity in cinema, looking at how directors, spectators, writers’ blocks and inspirations have been portrayed on film (view schedule for March screenings).

No. 88 – Reflexivity / Autobiography of an art work

Following their last year project 11172014, Art Yourself launches in 2015 a new ambitious project – No. 88, featuring 88 contemporary artists and 440 artworks in 8 different exhibitions, taking place on the 8th of each month for a year. Reflexivity / Autobiography of an art work is the theme of the first No. 88 group show, focusing on the inner dialogue, on the relationship between cause and effect, questioning reality through rich artistic visions of both emerging and established artists.

Cătălin Oancea – The things

In parallel with the project No. 88, Art Yourself also presents the urban art concept by sculptor Cătălin Oancea, who will add a new work in the outdoor space of the gallery each month. ‘The Things’ creates an imaginary world full of color, in contrast with the monotony of the city, aiming to revitalize the urban landscape with shapes deriving from the biological micro-cosmos, inspired by microcellular structures.
