Anim’est 2014 | Call for entries
Established in 2006, The anim’est International Animation Film Festival, the only one of its kind in Romania, has a festival programme consisting of six competitive sections (international feature film, international short film, Romanian film, student film, video & advertising, Balkanimation), the Mozaic section – presenting the hottest animation short & feature animations in international film festivals and also special sections and retrospectives dedicated to important animation studios, directors, film schools and festivals.
anim’est also includes workshops, masterclasses, special parallel events, and starting 2009, the Creepy Animation Night, a nightful of bizarre and horror animation shorts screenings accompanied by a live musical act.
Submissions for the 9th edition of the festival, which will take place between October 3rd and 12th, 2014, are now open.
Here are the highlights from the 2013 edition:
The 2013 Anim’est Trophy was presented to Špela Čadež for his Boles animation, a story about a man living in a poor neighbourhood, dreaming to become a famous writer. One day, his neighbour Tereza, an older prostitute that Filip tries to avoid by all means, asks him to write a letter for her fiancé. And this is where it all begins.
You are probably familiar with a previous animation, Lovesick.
Another winner, for the Best Short Film Award, was the film Lettres de femmes by Augusto Zanovello, about how love letters have the power to heal the wounds of soldiers on the battle fields of the First World War.
