Amigo: The ironic study of modern society

French artist Jérémie Cosimi – Amigo, currently based in Brussels, creates complex drawings that reflect human nature in various stages of the past and present existence and evolution of man using ancestral symbols, ethnic rituals, and modern situations as the starting point for his “ironic study, unapproved by the scientists, of modern society”.

Highly detailed, lacking color and embedding curious juxtapositions and references to undefined time and spaces, as if different moments in history concurrently yet naturally intercross, the works of Amigo highlight the essence of who we are in relation to our limits and an ever changing environment influenced by our actions and behavior. His characters have no clear identities, with their faces hidden behind symbolic masks and unexpected objects.

Like distorted memories that fuse with the images of present realities, the drawings have a significant visual impact with each detail directing the viewer towards new possible interpretations.
