Preview: PENER – COSMOGRAMMA @ INOPERAbLE Gallery

Known as Pener, Polish Graffuturism artist Bartek Świątecki opens his solo show ‘COSMOGRAMMA’ on May 7th at INOPERAbLE Gallery, which will host the artist’s first personal exhibition in Vienna from May 8th to June 27th, 2015.

Pener’s abstract art is strongly linked to traditional graffiti. His vision is defined by a different kind of geometry that combines form, color and nature, simplified to reveal the essence that we can only perceive when disconnecting from our first level of understanding. What is interesting in his visual approach is that the geometrical and angular forms tend to hide the shape itself, as they distract the viewer’s attention from the dynamic intersections and juxtapositions towards a bigger picture and higher form, gradually revealing itself before the curious minds of those who can decipher the overall meaning, the result of all lines and geometrical details coming together as one.

The artist creates his own language, as Cezary Hunkiewicz / BrainDamage notes, “The alphabet evolves into surfaces, words become shapes and the meanings move between colors and lines.” And continues: “The code embedded in the lines is not only the formal measure and the composition based on geometry is much more than just surfaces built on one another. The series of work titled ‘Cosmogramma’ by Bartek / Pener / Świątecki can be interpreted through the variation put forward by him, i.e. referring to the very moment when Bartek abandoned classical graffiti and started his individual search for the essence of style.”
