Okuda – Inert Beings @ Underdogs Gallery
We are back with photos from the “Inert Beings” solo show of Spanish artist Okuda (interviewed recently), at The Underdogs Gallery, in Lisbon, Portugal, up until July 26th, 2014.
In the works of Okuda, contrasting symbols combine and juxtapose to enforce the existing contradiction between our origins and modern times, and highlight the artist’s views on existentialism, the universe, the true meaning of life and the false freedom of capitalism.
The colourful geometric patterns reveal the artificial and illusive aspects of today’s society, while the organic grey faceless bodies and skulls show the consequences of these aspects on the individual, who no longer embraces the spiritual.

Okuda also had a large-scale intervention in Lisbon (Rua de Marvila), curated by Underdogs Gallery.
